“Ever wonder how domain authority relates to Google link metrics?”

If so,

has some excellent ideas!

They include:

Many people depend on Moz’s Domain Authority or Majestic’s Citation Flow. However, we have to keep in mind these are just educated predictions.  Some low Domain Authority Sites rank well in Google.

Don’t discard website based on their metrics.

“… just because you get a link on a new page of a new site, that doesn’t mean the link is spammy. You also don’t need to freak out if you have 100 links and 20 of those are from sites with a Domain Authority of 30 or below.”

Make sure your site takes care of 404s.

Don’t followup too many times. I generally like to followup with a different method once but then I let that potential client go. You don’t want to bother them more than they need to nor do you want to look like you are desperate for their business. Be confident enough to know what you offer is top quality so you don’t need to sale. I just need to educate and serve.

While anchor text is important, we have to be careful not to over focused on them.

Competitor analysis is what the so called guru preach. However, we have to take each on a case by case basis. Is it important to have more backlinks than a competitor or have better quality link juice coming from very authoritative sites. It is better to focus on quality over quantity.

Other ideas include email templates, patience with webmasters and link builders, don’t sweat your rank all day long, and pay attention to Google Analytics.

Let’s not forget ranking is a dance so we need to take our time to synchronize with the ecosystem.
